If there is any doubt that we’re growing, all one need do is look at the 2016 census profile where we see the population of Newmarket grew by 5.6% between 2011 and 2016:
There are 38.45 square kilometres within the boundaries of this town. Since there are no plans for that to change, population increases within Newmarket will have to be accommodated by vertical growth – as in apartment buildings – houses more densely packed – on smaller lots. The Province calls this “intensification”.
